Make the next action obvious

A useful interface gives the important action a clear place and an understandable name. When every element asks for attention, people have to reconstruct the hierarchy themselves.

Use the language of the work

Labels should match how people think about their task. Replace internal system terms with familiar language. Explain technical detail only when it changes a decision.

Design the awkward moments

Empty states, errors and slow responses are part of the product. Explain what happened, preserve the user’s work and provide a concrete next step.

Build a consistent rhythm

Shared components and interaction patterns reduce repeated learning. Consistency should support the task while leaving room for genuinely different workflows.
